Join us for a special event, organized by the WLI Committee and open to all genders. We will journey to Downtown Kissimmee on the SunRail and then walk and visit three public-private partnership projects. Please note, February 13 is the new date for this rescheduled event.

We will split attendees into three groups each with a tour guide to take to three amazing projects. The former Hansel Power Plant site has been transformed into Mosaic at Lake Toho, a 288-unit multi-family development, with 10,000 Sf of retail. The former Osceola High School site is now home to The Allen at Beaumont, a mixed-use project with 225,000 SF of commercial, office and residential. The Historical Makinson Hardware Building Project, aka 1881, is a 18,000 square foot mixed-use project that includes retail, restaurant, multi-family and office.  

Established in 1883 as a small trading post on the northern bank of Lake Tohopekaliga, Historic Downtown Kissimmee includes governmental functions, retail and service activities. Older residential neighborhoods, including historical registered homes, surround the commercial area of the Downtown Kissimmee CRA area. The City of Kissimmee established the Downtown Kissimmee Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) in 1993.  The Downtown Kissimmee CRA Master Plan guides the vision for the Downtown Kissimmee CRA area as a historic, lakeside “destination downtown” with established urban neighborhoods interwoven within shopping, employment, entertainment and recreation districts. Downtown Kissimmee is the county seat and urban center of Osceola County. In addition, Downtown Kissimmee is home to an intermodal station, which is home to SunRail, Amtrak and LYNX.

This event includes transportation on the SunRail and lunch. More details on optional SunRail transportation to follow. We are also including an optional social media contest to boost interaction among our tour participants. Our aim is to highlight both SunRail and the diverse attractions of Kissimmee by encouraging attendees to share their tour experiences through social media posts. Detailed contest guidelines will be included in the 'Know Before You Go' email scheduled for dispatch on January 15th.
