    Betsy VanderLey

    Orange County Government, Florida

    Vice-Mayor/Orange County Commissioner (District 1) Betsy VanderLey has lived in Orange County for 47 years. Her career has been on two tracks, first as a business owner and contractor. Commissioner VanderLey owned a company working under State guidelines to provide the installation of clean-up equipment on contaminated sites throughout the State. She later entered the architecture and engineering field as a business development professional and currently owns a business development and strategic planning firm. Secondly, she has been involved in politics since 1998 when her father first ran for the office of Mayor of the Town of Oakland. She played a role in many races in West Orange and South Lake Counties providing management, planning and strategy. Prior to her election Ms. VanderLey served her community with many worthwhile organizations including; Orange County Planning and Zoning, Orange County Affordable Housing Board, Home at Last (providing mortgage free, handicap accessible homes to combat disabled vets), Young Fathers of Central Florida, Greater Orlando Builder’s Association, Urban Land Institute’s Women in Leadership, CREW, Society of American Military Engineers, Orange County Membership and Mission Review Board, and Winter Garden Rotary. In 2016 Commissioner VanderLey was elected and sworn into the District 1 Commission seat for Orange County. One of the fastest growing regions of the State, District 1 residential building permits numbered in the 55-60% range of all residential building permits pulled in unincorporated Orange County over the past two years. Commissioner VanderLey’s professional experience with engineering, traffic, development and planning has served her district well as it continues to grow. Commissioner VanderLey has been honored as the 2014 District 1 citizen of the year, as the 2014 Greater Orlando Builder’s Association Eagle award recipient, the 2017 West Orange Boy Scouts Eagle Award winner, and the 2018 Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association Public Servant of the Year. Commissioner VanderLey resides in Oakland with her husband Todd. They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren including twin grandchildren coming up on their 2nd birthday in October. Notably, their daughter is a Blackhawk helicopter pilot for the United States Army, currently assigned to South Korea.

    Chassity Vega

    CEO, Greater Orlando Builders Association

    Vega is currently in her 11th year at GOBA, formerly as the membership and leadership services director, chief operating officer and today as CEO. During her tenure with GOBA, members have been inspired by Vega’s personal and professional accomplishments some of which include the implementation of the Pinnacle Builder, Hall of Fame and Remodeler of the Year Awards which significantly increased membership and led the association to take first‐place in the 2015 National Association of Home Builders recruitment video. Vega was recognized for her passion, drive, and dedication to the homebuilding industry by receiving the GOBA Presidential Citation award in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Under Vega’s leadership, the Greater Orlando Builders Association was just recently recognized with the National Association of Excellence Award – Best Educational Program for the Project Superintendent Training. Born to Puerto Rican parents in Norwalk, Conn. and a mom of three, Vega continues to break barriers while delivering an unmatched quality of leadership and expertise for the homebuilding industry throughout Central Florida.

    Kathy Hattaway

    Planning Group Leader, Poulos & Bennett

    Kathy has more than 25 years of experience as a strategic planning advisor, specializing in streamlining the complex process of pre-development and permitting. She is also experienced in the drafting of Development Agreements and Development Orders. As a recognized expert within the complex world of land planning, Kathy has managed numerous high-profile development and consulting teams, earning a trusted reputation with clients on the local and national stages. In addition to her regulatory and pre-development knowledge, Kathy is a gifted public speaker and seasoned meeting facilitator. She was an early proponent of incorporating public involvement programs and strategies into the development approval process and has honed those skills with public and private sector clients. A founding member and Chair of the Central Florida ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative, Kathy also serves on the ULI Florida Community Development Product Council. Additionally, she Chaired the City of Maitland Planning & Zoning Commission, serves on the Greater Orlando Builders Association Developers Council, and is a member of the American Planning Association. Kathy previously served on the Osceola County Planning Commission and the Osceola County Board of Adjustment and is a graduate of Leadership Central Florida, Leadership Orlando, and Leadership Osceola. She holds a license as a Florida Real Estate Sales Associate.

    Lisa Dilts

    Principal, Compspring

    Lisa has over 18 years of experience in real estate advisory and has worked with a diverse array of clients including cities, counties, developers, lawyers, national homebuilders, equity funds, and large landowners. She has worked on projects throughout Florida and across the nation and brings the perspective of national success and lessons learned while framing them through a local lens. Her work and client recommendations are recognized as being creative, market supported, and financially feasible Ms. Dilts started her career with Ernst and Young’s Commercial Real Estate Services Group, where her primary focus was valuation of commercial properties and site selection for industrial and government users, including the National Archives and Records Administration. Subsequent to her employment with Ernst and Young, Lisa worked with RCLCO, a nationally recognized knowledge solutions provider to the real estate industry. Her work at RCLCO included market feasibility studies and analysis of residential and commercial opportunities to maximize market share and financial returns. In addition, she worked for Beazer Homes as a Strategic Market Analyst, where she worked in tandem with the Division President to inform land acquisitions, target market audiences, repositioning of existing communities, and expansion strategies. Ms Dilts re-joined RCLCO in 2006 and helped them open an office in Orlando to establish a presence in Florida. In 2012, Lisa went out on her own and created Compspring, a real estate advisory company. Since its creation, the company has been engaged by a variety of notable clients including Disney, Dr. Phillips Foundation, and The Tampa Bay Rays. Ms. Dilts has been a speaker at numerous ULI and HBA programs and was selected as a recipient of Orlando Business Journal’s 40 under 40 award. She is an active member of ULI Central Florida, serving in a leadership role on the State Product Councils, and Central Florida’s Executive Committee.
