    The program will be led by Peter Linneman, Linneman Associates.  Peter is a world-renowned economist with an extensive list of accolades and he will present the economic outlook as well as, what 2021 may have in store. The update will be provided through a moderated conversation by Jeff Reader, Vice President of Reader Communities.
     
    Following the economic outlook, Cindy Campbell, a commercial real estate attorney with Akerman, will moderate a conversation with three of Central Florida's leading executives:

    Beat Kahli

    President & CEO, Avalon Park Group

    As Founder, President, and CEO of Avalon Park Group (APG), Beat Kahli leads an Executive Leadership Team focused on the mission to change the way the world lives, learns, works and plays. Through his leadership, APG drives the vision for creating sustainable communities under an umbrella of diverse companies, spanning multiple industries. Mr. Kahli’s real estate investments include single family, multi-family, commercial, retail, office and industrial opportunities. He has also expanded his operations into Europe by opening Avalon Park AG in Zurich, Switzerland, where Mr. Kahli serves as CEO of the publicly traded Swiss Company, sitEX Properties, AG. Some of Mr. Kahli’s top projects include acre Master Planned Developments ranging from 155-3,000+ acres in Orlando, Daytona, Tavares and Tampa, Florida. Plans for each of these projects includes a town center consisting of commercial, retail and office space surrounded by single family and multi-family units. Mr. Kahli’s Orlando based project was the number one selling development in the Orlando area for four years with a total value upon completion of $1.5 billion. Mr. Kahli’s Tampa based project is similar in size and scope to Avalon Park and is anticipated to have a value upon completion of $1.1 billion. Mr. Kahli also found success in the concrete industry, where, together with a partner, he developed Prestige/AB Ready Mix, which became the largest independent concrete producer in the State of Florida before it was sold. Other portfolio investments include, Avex Homes, VOXX International, Pasco Mine, Safe Harbor Storage, Cultivate AI, Encore Assisted Living and Memory Care Community and additional ventures that embody and diversify the vision of the company. With over 30 years of experience in the fields of real estate, investment banking and financial consulting, Mr. Kahli provides direction and guidance for all APG operations, including the development of strategic alliances and joint venture relationships. Mr. Kahli has been named by the Orlando Business Journal as one of the Top Ten Most Influential Businessmen, and the Reader’s Choice, Most Respected CEO in Central Florida. He has also been recognized by the Orlando Business Journal as Top Ten Most Influential Newsmakers, Top Ten Most Influential Businessmen in Central Florida and the 2021 Game Changer of the Year in the area of Innovation. Additionally, the Orlando Magazine awarded Beat Kahli the honor of one of the 50 Most Powerful People in Orlando for three consecutive years. While Mr. Kahli has been fortunate in his business ventures, he has also donated his time and financial support to several philanthropic causes. Mr. Kahli has served on the board of many community not-for-profit organizations including the Red Cross of Central Florida, the Central Florida YMCA, the Central Florida Boy Scouts, the University of Central Florida’s Health and Public Affairs and the AdventHealth Orlando’s Board of Directors. Mr. Kahli earned his Business Degree from the Zurich Business School. He resides in Orlando, Florida with his wife Jill and their four children, Daniel, David, Alex and Anna.

    Paul Ellis

    CEO, CNL Commercial Real Estate

    Paul serves as CEO of Foundry Commercial, bringing more than 29 years of commercial real estate brokerage, development, investment, and management experience.  As one of the founding members of Foundry, he and the team have grown the platform to 300 employees, serving clients across 11 offices and an investment platform that has completed over $1 Billion in investment and development joint ventures, including an active development pipeline of over 7.5 million square feet of industrial projects.



    Prior to joining Foundry, Paul spent 15 years with Trammell Crow Company, most recently as Managing Director of North Florida. At Trammell Crow Company, he helped create the largest property management company in Florida and grew the division to become the company’s most profitable business unit in the region, with more than 35 million square feet under management and a full-service division of more than 200 people in three cities. Mr. Ellis serves on the Real Estate Advisory Board for the University of Florida. He is a member of the Economic Development Council and is a former board member of the Christ School and the Orlando Museum of Art. Mr. Ellis graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Real Estate and Urban Analysis and is an accomplished speaker on the topic of commercial real estate.

    Peter Linneman

    Founding Princpal, Linneman Associates

    For over 40 years, Dr. Peter Linneman's unique blend of scholarly rigor and practical business insight has won him accolades from around the world, including PREA's prestigious Graaskamp Award for Real Estate Research, Wharton's Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center's Lifetime Achievement Award, Realty Stock Magazine's Special Achievement Award, being named "One of the 25 Most Influential People in Real Estate" by Realtor Magazine and inclusion in The New York Observer's "100 Most Powerful People in New York Real Estate". After receiving both his Masters and Doctorate in Economics under the tutelage of Nobel Prize winners Milton Friedman, Gary Becker, George Stigler, Ted Schultz and Jim Heckman, Peter had a distinguished academic career at both The University of Chicago and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. For 35 years, he was a leading member of Wharton's faculty, serving as the Albert Sussman Professor of Real Estate, Finance and Public Policy as well as the Founding Chairman of the Real Estate Department and Director of the prestigious Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center. During this time, he was co-editor of The Wharton Real Estate Review. In addition, he published over 100 scholarly articles, four editions of the acclaimed book Real Estate Finance and Investments: Risks and Opportunities, and the widely read Linneman Letter quarterly report. Peter's long and ongoing business career is highlighted by his roles as Founding Principal of Linneman Associates, LLC, a leading real estate advisory firm; CEO of American Land Fund; and CEO of KL Realty. For more than 35 years, he has advised leading corporations and served on over 20 public and private boards, including serving as Chairman of Rockefeller Center Properties, where he led the successful restructuring and sale of Rockefeller Center in the mid-1990s. Although retired from Wharton's faculty, Dr. Linneman continues his commitment to education through his SAM Elimu educational charity for orphans and children of extreme poverty in rural Kenya. He has been married for over 40 years and is an exercise enthusiast.

    Thom Cunningham

    Development Ventures Group, Inc

    Thom joined Dart Interests in 2018 and is responsible for all aspects of development and new pursuits in the Florida market. Thom’s experience spans both residential and commercial development, with a particular focus on large mixed-use master-planned communities. Prior to joining Dart Interests, Thom was managing all aspects of Crescent Communities Master Planned Development strategy in Florida. Thom started his career in real estate development at CNL working across a variety of development businesses. Thom received his MBA from University of Florida and a degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University.

    Cindy Campbell

    Akerman LLP

    Cindy Campbell is a Real Estate attorney at Akerman LLP’s Orlando, Florida office, focusing her practice in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions concerning acquisitions, development, and lease negotiations. Additionally, Cindy has served as Developer’s counsel, Trustee’s counsel, and Underwriter’s counsel in connection with bond issues. She has represented governmental entities and lenders on affordable housing tax credit transactions including new development, rehabilitations, portfolio transfers, and loan modifications. In addition to her practice, Cindy teaches Real Estate Law at the University of Central Florida. Cindy serves as the co-chair for ULI Central Florida’s DEI Task Force and Management Committee, is a board member for Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Orlando where she serves on the Executive Committee as Secretary, the co-chair for CREW Orlando’s DEI Task Force, and is member of CREW Network’s DEI Taskforce.

    Jeff Reader

    Managing Partner, Reader Communities

    Jeff is responsible for sourcing new opportunities at Reader Communities. His day-to-day activities are primarily focused on land acquisition, capital structuring, and due diligence while also supporting key development and entitlement efforts. Prior to joining Reader Communities, Jeff spent four years with Westgate Resorts overseeing due diligence, budgeting, planning, permitting, and project coordination. Jeff is a licensed Real Estate Sales Associate in the State of Florida. He is heavily involved with the Urban Land Institute, is a member of the Bergstrom Council at the University of Florida and the Greater Orlando Builders Association. Education: M.S.
