    The StimULI Breakfast Series is a monthly program designed to provide attendees with food for thought by introducing and exploring the most innovative trends in real estate.     Healthcare organizations are recognizing the need to change how facilities are designed and constructed.  These organizations are forced to balance providing the best care and staying abreast of advances in health, while improving upon long-term sustainability.     Chuck Knight

    Healthcare Director, RLF

    Chuck takes clients on a personal journey to experience how quality architecture impacts societies, cultures and identity. With over 200 projects conducted under his direct leadership, he is an example of managing for success, innovative solutions while realizing great architecture serves a purpose. Chuck has developed his expertise in Healthcare, Science + Technology, K-12 - Higher Education and Corporate Facilities, seeking a common integrated solution where ideas are valued within cultural and environmental design expertise. He has been instrumental in the success of the following projects on a variety of levels; programming, design, client relationships, procurement and on-site. This is a brief selection from a large portfolio of work that has made a significant impact on our profession and society - setting high standards for meaningful human environments, economical innovative ideas that influence accountable energy conservation solutions.

    Arnulfo Castillo

    Corporate Manager, Design & Pre-Construction, Orlando Health

    Arnulfo has advocated for high-performance, sustainable design throughout his career beginning at Ferraro Choi & Associates architects in Honolulu, Hawaii, and completed the first LEED Platinum-certified building in the State of Hawaii. The NELHA laboratory facility utilizes a deep-sea water system for displacement cooling and generates 100% of its energy from on-site renewable energy sources. Arnulfo also worked at the architectural firm HKS Inc., in Dallas, Texas, where he was a designer for the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. After spending the early part of his career in architecture, he felt that a stronger integration between design and construction would create more opportunities for efficient, sustainable design and construction management methodologies. He joined a Construction General Contractor firm and initiated the firm’s first design-build projects division. Arnulfo spent the past 7 years as the Capital Program Director of Bishop Estate, the largest private landowner and developer in Hawaii. Arnulfo joined the Orlando Health Asset Strategy team as the Corporate Manager for Design and Pre-Construction in 2019 and is currently working on master planning and various bed tower expansion projects and is currently developing sustainable design standards for Orlando Health. Arnulfo is a Licensed Architect and LEED Accredited Professional. He has a degree in Economics from the University of Texas and a Doctorate of Architecture degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

    Alexa Stone

    President, ecoPreserve

    Alexa Stone is a LEED Accredited Professional, a certified Sustainable Facilities Professional and an Envision Sustainability Professional. She has been on the City of Orlando Greenworks Task force since its inception and is one of the original authors of the city’s sustainability plan. She was awarded the Building Owners and Managers Association President’s Award for Sustainability and the Rising Star Business of the Year by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. Alexa Stone founded ecoPreserve – Building Sustainability in 2009. “Working as a Energy Specialist at Home Depot’s Corporate Headquarters, I saw that LED and solar conversion brought reduced energy consumption and reduced bottom line costs, but I knew that I wanted to go further. My company would offer comprehensive sustainability services.” For more than a decade now, ecoPreserve team members have worked with healthcare organizations, universities and local government to reduce their operational impact, improve efficiencies and create healthier workplaces. The strategies and solutions that ecoPreserve provides not only improve operational efficiencies, they prepare clients for exposure to climate hazards. They measure, reduce and report on emissions. They support a broad range of 3rd party building certifications. They integrate sustainability and wellness into communities. Alexa has a parallel focus on local job creation. Her commitment to helping college graduates enter the field has brought significant exposure to many exception young sustainability specialists.
